Each training day at Advanced Equine Recovery is designed to combine education, safety, and hands-on observation of equine therapy in a real rehabilitation environment.

Participants will learn how modern equine recovery therapies are integrated into daily care for horses needing rehabilitation, performance recovery, or supportive therapy.

The focus is not just on the equipment itself, but on understanding when and why a particular therapy may be used, how it is applied safely, and how horses respond to different modalities.

What a Typical Training Day Looks Like

Morning Session: Safety, Equipment, and Therapy Foundations

The day begins with an overview of equine therapy safety protocols and treatment preparation.

Participants learn how to:

• Safely handle horses during therapy sessions
• Prepare horses for treatment
• Set up therapy equipment correctly
• Understand basic safety considerations for each therapy modality
• Recognize situations where therapy may or may not be appropriate

Understanding safety and proper setup is essential before any therapy is applied.

Understanding When and Why Therapies Are Used

Participants will learn the basic principles behind each recovery modality, including why certain therapies may be chosen for specific situations.

Examples may include:

• Supporting circulation and muscle relaxation after training
• Managing inflammation in certain soft tissue conditions
• Supporting recovery following veterinary treatment or rehabilitation programs
• Assisting horses experiencing muscle tension or soreness

This portion of the training focuses on helping students understand the purpose and reasoning behind therapy selection.

Equipment Demonstrations

Throughout the day, instructors will demonstrate several therapy systems used in equine recovery programs.

Participants will observe how equipment is prepared, positioned, and applied while learning:

• Proper treatment setup
• Safe positioning of therapy devices
• Basic application techniques
• Observing how horses respond during therapy sessions

Students will gain exposure to multiple rehabilitation technologies used in equine recovery environments.

Supervised Hands-On Practice With Equipment

One of the most valuable parts of the training is the opportunity for participants to practice working with the equipment on horses under instructor supervision.

Students will have the opportunity to:

• Practice positioning therapy equipment
• Apply certain modalities with instructor guidance
• Learn correct treatment techniques
• Observe how horses respond to different therapies

Hands-on experience helps students develop confidence and a better understanding of how therapy sessions are conducted.
